About
About us
We build a free, fast and honest exercise calorie calculator — no sign-up, no black boxes, no games with your data.
What this site is
exercisecaloriecalculator.com estimates the calories you burn during exercise and everyday activity. You pick from 125+ activities — walking, running, swimming, cricket, cleaning, dancing, and much more — enter your weight and either a duration, a distance, or a calorie goal, and get an instant number.
Three things decide what it does:
- It’s free. No account, no paywall, no trial.
- It’s transparent. Every estimate comes from the published MET formula — we show the formula, the MET value and the worked examples so you can check our math.
- It’s private. Your weight and inputs stay in your browser; we never receive them.
How the estimates are built
Activity MET values come from theCompendium of Physical Activities, the peer-reviewed research database used by universities and clinics. Calories are calculated with the standard formula kcal = MET × weight (kg) × hours. The full methodology — including what the estimate does not model — is published on ourHow it works page.
We also publish a daily calorie (BMR/TDEE)calculator using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, for the other side of the energy balance: intake.
Editorial standards
- Numbers come from published research datasets, not invented for engagement.
- Results are labelled as estimates — never dressed up as medical facts.
- We state our limitations openly (age, body composition, fitness and terrain all shift real burn).
- Every page carries a clear medical disclaimer: this is educational, not medical advice.
Who we are
The site is maintained by the Exercise Calorie Calculator editorial team — a small group of developers and health-content writers who got tired of calculators that hide their math. We keep our sources visible and our tool free.

What we’re not
We’re not a medical service, a diet plan, or a fitness coach. We publish general educational estimates. Read our medical disclaimer, and talk to a qualified professional before changing your exercise or nutrition habits.
